Policy Analysis and High-Impact Policy Brief
Course Overview
This intensive course equips participants with the practical skills required to conduct rigorous policy analysis and develop clear, evidence-based policy briefs that support effective decision-making across African governments and organisations.
It covers the key stages of the policy analysis process, from framing policy problems and synthesising evidence to assessing policy options, analysing risks and feasibility, and translating complex findings into concise, decision-ready recommendations. Participants will also explore how data visualisation, stakeholder analysis and strategic communication can strengthen policy influence and uptake.
Through African case studies, practical policy labs, individual writing exercises and peer review, participants will develop and refine their own policy brief, building the confidence and skills needed to communicate evidence effectively to senior decision-makers.

How will you learn
Intensive hands-on format with African case studies, policy labs, individual writing exercises and
peer review. An expert facilitator guides every session. You will produce your own policy brief
during the course.

The course is offered as an intensive 5-day in-person workshops (Nairobi and selected African cities) and parallel 5-day live online cohorts. Custom in-house versions are available for governments, CSOs and organizations.
