Parliamentary Oversight & Legislative Drafting
Course Overview
This intensive course equips parliamentarians and parliamentary professionals with the practical skills required to draft effective legislation and strengthen parliamentary oversight of government policies, programmes and public resources.
It covers the key stages of the legislative and oversight processes, from developing clear and enforceable legislative provisions to reviewing and amending bills, conducting effective scrutiny, engaging stakeholders and monitoring the implementation of enacted laws. Participants will also explore practical tools for strengthening accountability and ensuring that legislation responds effectively to public priorities.
Through hands-on drafting exercises, mock committee hearings and African parliamentary case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to analyse legislation, conduct effective oversight and contribute meaningfully to the law-making process.
